Here is our fourth instalment on the schedules of release of checks under the 2010 unemployment extension 2010 bill per state. This update covers Missouri, Massachusetts, Washington, Idaho, Connecticut, Delaware, Texas, New York, New Mexico, Maine and Colorado.
For previous updates check on the following: Update 1, Update 2, Update 3.
MISSOURI (https://www.ui.labor.mo.gov/som/ )
The Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations posted the following message on its site:
“We will be identifying eligible claimants and mailing them instructions on how to apply for these benefits. Claimants who exhaust benefits after July 23, 2010, should transition on to the next tier of benefits seamlessly. Eligible claimants should expect to receive their benefits within 1 to 5 weeks. Please keep the DES informed of your current address.”
MASSACHUSETTS (http://www.mass.gov/)
The Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development (EOLWD) posted the following update:
“On July 22, 2010, President Obama signed legislation making Emergency Unemployment Compensation and Extended Benefits available through December 1, 2010 with applicable phase-out periods. Claimants who have not exhausted the maximum extension benefits will receive a letter with instructions on how to apply and claim these benefits.”
“You can log in at www.mass.gov/dua/webcert, and click on ‘check the status of your claim’, to check your balance and the date of your most recent payment. If you have any questions about your unemployment insurance, please call 1- 877-626-6800.“
WASHINGTON (http://www.esd.wa.gov/)
From Washington’s Employment Security Department:
“Now that Congress has approved another extension to federal jobless benefits, officials with the Washington State Employment Security Department are urging claimants to not call the claims center to inquire about their eligibility.
Employment Security Commissioner Karen Lee said it will take the department some time to recode the benefits computer system for the new extension and determine each claimant’s status.
In about a week, the department will mail information to everyone who is potentially eligible.
For now, people who already have an active claim should continue to file their weekly claims as they usually do.
We won’t be able to answer questions about an individual’s status until after the computer work has been completed,” said Lee. “To avoid clogging up our phone lines, we ask people to watch their mail.”
IDAHO (http://labor.idaho.gov/)
The Idaho Department of Labor posted the following notice on its website:
“Congress passed and the President signed an extension of extended unemployment insurance benefits on 07/22/2010. Our Department is in the process of making edits to our system to accommodate this extension. The edits to our system will take approximately a week to make, so our Department will likely be able to process extension reopens and payments beginning approximately 7/30/2010. Benefit claimants should not contact the Idaho Department of Labor. Eligible Idaho workers will be notified by the Department that their benefits will resume and given instruction on how to proceed.”
CONNECTICUT (http://www.ctdol.state.ct.us/ )
From the Connecticut Department of Labor:
“CTDOL will identify eligible claimants (including Interstate) and notify them of their entitlement for EUC benefits.”
DELAWARE (http://www.delawareworks.com/)
From Delaware’s Division of Unemployment Insurance:
“The Division of Unemployment Insurance will notify all individuals, by mail, who may qualify for the benefits provided under this legislation. This notice will provide specific instructions for filing a claim for your extension of unemployment insurance benefits. Please do not call and do not report to your local office unless directed to do so by the division.”
TEXAS (http://www.twc.state.tx.us/customers/jsemp/jsempsub2.html )
From the Texas Workforce Commission website:
“TWC is working quickly to issue payments to customers who continued to submit payment requests. If you submitted your payment requests you should receive your payments by Wednesday, August 4.
Watch your mail — If you qualify for additional benefits, TWC will mail you an application or a letter with the amount of benefits you can receive. You do not need to contact TWC about the extension unless we send you a letter asking for information.”
NEW YORK (https://ui.labor.state.ny.us)
The New York State Department of Labor posted the following message last week:
“Please continue to claim weekly benefits in the usual manner, unless you have received instructions to file a new claim. Claimants whose benefits had stopped because they were not able to begin receiving EUC by the week ending June 6, 2010, or were not able to move to a new Tier of EUC or collect Extended Benefits starting on the week ending June 13, 2010, will receive payment in their account by the middle of next week for back weeks claimed. “
NEW MEXICO (http://www.dws.state.nm.us/ )
Department of Workforce Solutions’ message:
“If the bill becomes law, people will be able to apply for EUC until November 2010 and receive benefits until May 2011.
If you have already exhausted the number of eligible weeks under EUC, this bill will not add additional weeks for you.
For those who have been affected, the department will contact you directly and let you know what to do.
For those who have been affected, the department will contact you directly and let you know what to do.”
MAINE (http://www.maine.gov/labor/unemployment/benefits.html )
Maine Department of Labor’s update:
“The process is different depending on the program or tier of benefits you were in. All workers identified as potentially eligible for the extensions will be mailed a notice with instructions explaining what they need to do to sign-up or continue collecting benefits under EUC or EB. The following provides additional detail on the plan moving forward.”
The site also added, “We Will Be Working Quickly, But Please be Patient
Notices and any necessary applications will be mailed out shortly after the legislation is signed into law. All available resources will be shifted to processing applications, but it may take up to two weeks after receiving your weekly claims for your payment to process. Due to very high call volumes at the Unemployment Claims Centers, the best way to apply or reopen a claim under EUC or EB is to file the paperwork you will receive by mail.”
COLORADO (http://www.colorado.gov/cs/Satellite/CDLE-UnempBenefits/CDLE/1248095315687)
The Colorado’s Department of Labor and Employment’s July 22 update:
“The President has signed into law an extension of emergency unemployment benefits. We are waiting for further information from the U.S. Department of Labor. We will put that information online as soon as we have it. Please do not call our information line because they will not be able to tell you anything more. Keep requesting payment on CUBLine Online or CUBLine.”
The update also said, “We are moving as quickly as we can to get your payments to you. We hope to begin paying very soon. We will continue to get the most recent information on this page and on Facebook and Twitter. Please do not call our information line. They do not have any more information than we have on this page.”

So I guess we are waiting a couple of weeks just to get a notice telling us we are eligible and then its going to be a couple more weeks before we actually get a payment????
What about Tennessee? We are getting no answers, and can’t get a hold of the unemployment office.
Kentuckians can start filing on Tuesday, once a day for up to three straight days for however many checks you are due

News / Announcements:
Extension of Emergency Unemployment Insurance Benefits
Unfortunately, information is limited at this time as the Department of Labor is still working to provide specific details to the agency.
What we do know is this–extension of emergency unemployment insurance benefits has been approved.
Once more information is given to the Virginia Employment Commission by the Department of Labor, we will provide notification to potentially eligible claimants. At this time this is all we know.
In the meantime, please continue with your job search and keep records of those contacts.
If you have been claiming weeks, but not receiving payment while waiting for passage of the extension, please continue claiming those weeks.
Please ensure that you notify the agency promptly of any address changes that may affect your receipt of communications from us.
This is the newest update I found today for the state of Alabama if anyone by chance is here from Alabama or just wants to know. Seems to be very good news & it makes me hopeful for my state & everyone else’s state as well. Stay strong, have hope, & God Bless…:-)

IMPORTANT NEWS ABOUT FEDERAL EXTENDED UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION
AND ALABAMA HIGH EXTENDED BENEFITS UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION (HEB)
Legislation to extend the ending date of the Emergency Unemployment Compensation program (EUC08) and the High Extended Unemployment Benefits program (HEB) was signed into law by President Obama on July 22, 2010. See the summary of the legislation below. *
Staff at the Alabama Department of Industrial Relations is working now to make the necessary changes and expects to pay these additional benefits before July 30, 2010.
If you are still unemployed, you should continue to file weekly certifications as usual. You will be notified by mail if you are entitled to additional benefits.
Please note: The new legislation did not include any additional tiers of benefits for EUC or any extra weeks for HEB. Claimants who have already received all EUC and HEB benefits will have no other benefits available.
* Extension of Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) program:
Extends the EUC program through November 30, 2010 with a phase-out lasting through April 30, 2011 and is retroactive back to June 2nd.
* Extension of Extended Benefits (EB) program:
Extends 100 percent of Federal funding for the Extended Benefits (EB) program to December 1, 2010 with a phase-out to May 1, 2011.
* Federal Additional Compensation: (the extra $25)
It does NOT extend the FAC program. The program ended on June 2, 2010 with a phase-out period for current FAC recipients ending on December 7, 2010.
what about georgia cant get thru to ga dept of labor.
Hi everyone! I just logged onto Alabama’s DOL Website as I’ve been doing to check the status of my account & it actually said PAID on ALL of my weeks I’ve claimed since June 5th! Interesting thing is the “date issued” reflects 7/28, which is tomorrow, so it hasn’t hit my bank account yet but most likely will first thing Thursday morning on 7/29! Guess Alabama is processing things & staying a day ahead. Normally, I receive the money in my bank account a day after the payment was issued. That’s the way our system has always worked before. You never know though, I may get surprised & it be there tomorrow. Either way, I’m just happy I’ve been paid retroactively & can have some peace of mind knowing when the money will definitely actually be there. Funny thing is, I called the Unemployment Number for Alabama Monday afternoon, which was just yesterday & talked to a real person who was actually nice to me to make sure I was up to date & things were good on my end. It actually only took me about 30 minutes to get through, surprisingly! She said I was fine, so I asked her when she thought I would be receiving my benefits & she said maybe a week or two & that she didn’t really know anything else. Even after hearing a week or two, I didn’t give up hope & to my surprise, my account shows paid the very next day. Maybe everyone’s state is giving a general message about when the money will come through so they can work around the clock to get it to you faster than you anticipated. Please stay strong & have hope. I will be praying for each & everyone of you & the 99′ers! At least the updates on Alabama’s DOL Website are accurate. They said they felt Alabama would be receiving their money BEFORE Friday July 30th & I guess they were right! I have bills due between now & Friday & have been eating potted meat & moldy bread, so this money couldn’t have come at a better time! I am so thankful & grateful but I will remember in November! I broke down crying once I saw that my account showed paid! I thought sharing this would encourage everyone that the states will hopefully be getting your money to you faster than you think. Don’t listen to what they say at the Unemployment Offices. Most of them really don’t know anything. Sorry to ramble so much but I’m overwhelmed with happiness & shock! I will be praying that everyone receives their money at Godspeed! Peace & love to all.-Brooke:-)
Illinois payments will begin on Friday, 7/30/2010. I spoke with a representative from IDES this morning. A portion of the money has already been added to my IDES account balance. The rest if it will be added overnight. That will trigger payments to be sent out via direct deposit or IDES debit card by Friday morning. This only applies to those who have been regularly certifying. They will be an additional delay if you have not continued to certify while waiting for the legislation to pass.
Note that the IDES website has not be updated with this information. To find out your IDES account balance, call Tele-Serv and selection option 3.
Check out the Illinois IDES website. New information was added to the site last night about extension payments. As I mentioned in my post yesterday, most payments will be received no later than tomorrow.
ides.state.il.us/pdf/news/99weeks.pdf
It’s July 31 and I haven’t seen anything from Illinois. I have been certifying on-time every two weeks and am Tier 2. Checked my debit balance over a dozen times yesterday hoping…but it remains at $0.41.
The IDES press release concerning the Tele-Serve situation stated “More than 90 percent of those claimants have been paid…”
Is anyone else who has been certifying regularly in IL in the same boat, or have you received funds?
man va is really the worse just got off the phone . saying the same stuff the saying on the website . then they telling me 6 weeks. wtf.
That’s good news Brooklyyn!! I’m in Alabama with hopes that it will show up tomorrow or Friday on the debit card. Wishing good luck to all of us.
one week at a time. We do not qualify for the new extintion that was passed, because our uneployment is 7.1% and out nations is 8.1% or higer to get the extintion. So if you was hoping to get a lump sum of money ? your going to get one check. Until your eRichmond,VA will not receive RETRO Pay. We will receive xtintion runs out. No more extintion if your own the extintion now. If You just finished your 26 weeks you are intitled to 1,2,and 3 extintion. tier 4 will receive
tier 4 extinition (that’s the new one that the Congress Pass) So 1 week at a time hope your bills are not as much as you check because there will be no RETRO FOR VA…..COL aint that a B…h!!!!!!!!!
It’s a terrible thing to have to wait 1-5 weeks for a notice to tell you if you qualify for the extension, seems like MDL should be able to make this happen faster than that,I called our local electric company and was told their not income based, they won’t give me any more time to come up with the money to pay my bill,my car is broke down,I don’t even have a phone to list on job application’s yet, they say wait another month…..Just Don’t Seem Fair!!!!!
I live in Tennessee and i was wondering what is the latest info on when we might start receiving our checks I have tried to get in touch with the unemployment office but i am not having any luck. Also when i call to certify it says that my benefits are exhausted so if anybody has any info will yall let me know.
