Apple’s Special Event Hits Tomorrow…What Will They Announce? – (NASDAQ:AAPL)

The music event from Apple is tomorrow (Sept 1), and all the major tech blogs will be there. Being that I am not working for any of said tech blogs, I am sadly still stuck a state away from the California-based celebration, but I will be following live feed anxiously.

There is no doubt that some major announcements will be underway, and there are a few that seem obvious: the release of an updated iPod Touch, which may have a camera to make it compatible with Facetime is one of those high on the list. Especially since there were reports of a new case released that showed a camera space in a front slot.

But what will the surprise be? It is a music event, which seems to point to there being a music theme. This gives some credibility to the iPod reports, both for the Nano and the Shuffle, and possible the Touch. But there has to be more for such a massive event being orchestrated, especially with such early leaks.

I am guessing some kind of iTunes-specific announcement. Maybe that will be the iTunes TV rentals that have been circulating the rumor mill and prompted action from Google, who is now seeking their own streaming rental service for YouTube. But, again, we have the music element, so maybe it will be an additional service for music downloads? An online radio station?

Of course, there always some hope that there will be a new device altogether revealed. Apple TV comes to mind, or a new generation multi-device of some kind. But let’s be realistic about this, and admit that there is slim chance of a large-scale launch without a few whispers fueling the fire.

I guess we will have to wait until tomorrow to find out for sure, but any bets?
