Rapper T.I. Arrested On Drug Charges

Rapper T.I. was arrested with his wife, Tiny, late Wednesday on drug possession charges at Sunset Boulevard.

T.I., 29, whose real name is Clifford Harris Jr. was driving a Maybach when police stopped them for making an illegal U-turn. His wife Tammeka Cottle, 36, known in the music circle as Tiny, was with him in the car with other passengers.

Nicolle Nishida, a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Department said that the arresting officer first thought that it was just a routine traffic violation. Upon nearing the vehicle though, the police officers smelled an odor similar to marijuana coming from inside the car. This prompted the officers to search the vehicle and they found a number of pills that looked like Ecstacy inside the car. They then confirmed that the husband and wife were in possession of a controlled substance.

There were also unconfirmed reports that Styrofoam cups were seen on the driver’s cup holder as well as at the back passengers’ area. Some speculate that the cups contain codeine, a narcotic cough syrup mixed with certain substances and usually consumed using a stryrofoam cup. This concoction is popularly known as sizzurp.

Although there were other passengers inside the vehicle, reports posted said that they were not arrested.

This arrest may have negative repercussions on the Takers star and Grammy award winning rapper. It can be recalled that T.I. was previously involved in felony in 2008 where he was convicted. He was released and arrested again in 2009 for violating his probation and jailed on gun charges. He is currently under probation and this current charge may bring him back to jail.

The couple was released after posting $10,000 bail.

No official statement has been issued on this matter from T.I.’s lawyer but an assistant said that an offical statement will be made public later today. This will determine whether or not this arrest will have any bearing with his current probation.
