Salmonella Outbreak Linked to a Popular Frozen Meal

29 people across 14 states have succumbed to a salmonella outbreak. from eating ConAgra Foods  “Marie Callender’s Cheesy Chicken  and Rice” brand frozen dinners. The particular Marie Callender item that has been re-called is the 13 oz “Cheesy Chicken & Rice White Meat Chicken and Broccoli over Rice Topped with Rich Cheddar Sauce.”

The affected product can be identified by looking inside the USDA inspection mark for the establishment number “P-45″. The patients affected by the outbreak, all reported eating the product in April and May. The CDC warns consumers who may still have some of the product, to return it to the store of purchase or discard it.
Common signs of food poisoning include stomach cramps, diarrhoea and fever with 8 to 72 hours after eating or drinking contaminated food/beverages. The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service advises consumers to seek medical advice immediately if salmonella poising is suspected.
